Corrie Zacharia
Yew Chung International School of Shanghai Head of Admissions, China Region
Shanghai
For over eight years, Corrie has helped expatriate families navigate the complicated Shanghai international school landscape and make the best decision for their children -- one that will enable them to thrive during their time in China and beyond. She oversees a multicultural Admissions team across four YCIS campuses in Shanghai, and supports Admissions colleagues in the school network which stretches across nine cities in China.
Corrie is passionate about challenging people's thinking about what the phrase "truly international" really means as well as understanding how each school system defines and demonstrates this. Her desire to learn Mandarin and work in international education brought her to China in 2006, after working in Admissions at her alma mater – Pepperdine University – in Los Angeles, California. As a former "expat kid" herself (attending high school in Hong Kong), Corrie is able to relate personally to the joys and challenges expat families face when relocating to Shanghai.
